Privacy Policy
We built BackPocket to be trustworthy by design. This document explains the data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have everywhere we operate.

1. What this policy covers
BackPocket (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides capture and reminder services through SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram, e-mail, and the BackPocket web vault. This policy covers every touchpoint where we collect or process data on your behalf, including integrations provided by partners such as Twilio and Meta.
2. Information we collect
- Account & identity. Phone numbers, email addresses, and authentication metadata you submit to create or access an account.
- Content you save. Messages, files, links, images, voice notes, and tags that you intentionally send to BackPocket.
- Usage & device data. Log files, approximate location, and telemetry that help us secure the platform and improve performance.
- Messaging consent records. Timestamped opt-in/opt-out events required by TCPA, CTIA, CASL, and other global regulations.
3. How we use information
- Deliver, personalize, and improve the BackPocket experience.
- Analyze saved content with AI models to classify intent, summarize details, and schedule reminders.
- Send transactional communications, including verification codes, reminders, and critical updates.
- Detect fraud, enforce acceptable use, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Messaging consent & opt-out
By submitting your phone number you explicitly authorize BackPocket to send SMS/MMS or social messaging communications related to account access, saved content, reminders, and product updates. Message frequency varies based on your usage. Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any BackPocket message to opt out.
- Reply HELP for support information.
- You can also email privacy@backpocket.cloud to revoke consent.
We do not sell, rent, or share opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes. Originator opt-in and consent information is never shared outside of processors necessary to deliver the service.
5. How we share information
We only share data with vendors that help deliver BackPocket (for example, hosting providers, SMS carriers, customer support tooling) under strict data processing agreements. We may disclose information to comply with laws, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of our users. We never sell personal data.
6. Data retention & security
Content you save stays in your vault until you delete it or close your account. We retain system logs and consent records for at least four years to comply with telecom regulations. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited via role-based controls, audits, and rotating credentials.
7. Your rights & choices
- Download or delete your data from Settings or by emailing privacy@backpocket.cloud.
- Update messaging preferences across SMS, WhatsApp, or push notifications at any time.
- Residents in California, the EU/UK, Canada, and other regions can exercise local privacy rights—access, rectification, deletion, portability, and restriction.
8. International transfers
We store data in the United States with optional regional storage for enterprise customers. When data moves across borders we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and other approved safeguards.
